The Charlie Charlie Challenge...

Hellooooo,
ADashOfBecks here!

I'm going to talk about something a little different today, the 'Charlie Charlie Challenge' most of you probably know what the Charlie Charlie Challenge is, but if you don't, it is when you get a piece of paper and split it into 4 sections and write 'yes' on the top right and bottom left and 'no' on the top left and bottom right, then across the lines you drew to split the page into segments you place one pencil on the horizontal line and one other pencil balanced on top of the horizontal one pointing vertically, then you ask 'Charlie Charlie are you here?' and the balanced pencil is supposed to turn to 'yes' if he is there.
You may be wondering who 'Charlie' is, and the answer is that he is supposedly a Mexican demon, or a child with red eyes who was killed. After you have finished asking him questions, you have to ask him 'Charlie Charlie can I/We leave?' if the pencil turns to no, you have to keep playing until he finally agrees, but if he says yes you may leave. If you don't ask him this and just leave the rumour is that he haunts you forever.

My Experience

Me and a group of my friends (10 or 11 of us in total) tried this challenge out at school on our break time, we did it outside, under a shelter but it was not windy and we were all shielding the board/paper anyway. To begin we classically asked 'Charlie Charlie are you here?'... No reply. So we tried multiple times... nothing. In the end we were all joking about and I said 'Charlie Charlie are you a dickhead?' (sorry for the language) and to our surprise it turned to yes! Some people got scared and some were laughing until someone owned up to blowing the pencil. We continued to trial it and asked it again 'Charlie Charlie are you here?' This time it actually turned to yes and nobody could have blown it as we made sure that no one could have. We all freaked out a little, but gave in and continued asking him different questions, most of which got no replies, he only answered to me when I spoke... Eventually we all gave up and asked if we could go, numerous times it didn't work but eventually it turned to yes, so we snapped the pencils and ripped up the paper.

All of what I just said, was 100% true, however there is a logical explanation for the whole thing!

GRAVITY AND YOUR BREATH!

You have to balance a pencil on top of another pencil, and this isn't how pencils should naturally be so gravity forces it to move! The pencils have to be so finely balanced on top of each other that even the slightest little breath or unbalanced surface will push it around! It's as simple as that! Once you think into it it isn't scary at all!
And as for things happening if you don't say goodbye, it is just your imagination, if you think hard enough about something you can trick yourself into thinking things are happening or something is true, but its your eyes and mind playing tricks on you! Don't worry!

That's all I have for today! It would really help me if you suggested some fun blog posts to do in the comments as I don't know what you guys would like? It'd be super helpful!
Anyway! Thanks for reading this post, if you liked it don't forget to let me know in the comments and if you're not already, follow me! It really, really helps!

Much Love,

Little Weekend Away!

Hellooooo,
ADashOfBecks here!

Today, I thought I'd do a little blog post about what I have been up to, as it has been half term last week in England, so most school kids have had a week off and went back to school yesterday!
Anyway, During last week I didn't do very much. I went to a party, and was with my Nan for the rest of the week. Apart from on Friday..
On Friday my Sister, her Boyfriend, her Boyfriend's Mum and her Boyfriend's Sister Went on a little road trip! I got picked up at 3:00 PM and we went on our way to Bristol to do a little bit of shopping (I have no pictures from Bristol unfortunately) at Cribbs Causeway, a huge shopping centre, or mall if you are American. There are quite a wide range of shops, and I highly recommend going down to do some shopping if you live near there or are passing!
After this, we took another little travel to Weston-Super-Mare, which, if you are unsure, is a little seaside town just down from Bristol. It isn't very 'happening' as you might say, but it is a nice day out to go and get some fish and chips and sit on the pier or at the sea front if it is sunny, and maybe have a paddle in the sea!

After we'd been to Weston we headed to our Hotel that we were stopping in, and on the way there, we got a little, sneaky peek of the destination we were heading to the next day... STONEHENGE!

We stopped in a lovely little hotel/bed and breakfast, called "Fairlawn House" Located in Amesbury. Which gave you access to free parking, free WIFI and Breakfast was included in the morning! It was the most popular little hotel in the area, with Stonehenge being a 5 minute drive away! I deeply recommend it if you are planning on stopping down there.

As I said, on the Saturday, we went to Stonehenge at 11:00 AM, It was absolutely amazing! Even though you were not aloud to touch the stones as such, you got a very eerie and spiritual feeling when you are there, as if it has its own powers surrounding it. When you get there they either lend you a strange telephone like thing to listen to an audio tour on or you can download the audio tour on your phone's app store as we did, all of the information on the audio tour is fascinating and you can learn quite a lot from it, I believe that even if you are not really into old Castles, ruins and stuff like this, it will be a nice trip out as I think the spiritual nature of it warms to everybody.
Here are some pictures from Stonehenge.

Then, Finally after Stonehenge, we took a trip to Bath, It is a very old, cultural town, as it has been around for centuries, since the Roman times. The buildings and Scenery are so special and beautiful, it is just a truly astonishing place!

In Bath, we went to the Roman Baths Museum, where we got an audio tour (not accessible from app stores) around the Roman Baths, all of the water used was natural and from the fresh water Spring, which is actually the only Thermal Spring in the UK! I'm not going to give too much away about it as you may want to pay a visit soon! I definitely recommend it! It is a great day out and is beautiful!

And, that is the end of my Road Trip! I hope you enjoyed my little review and guidance to visit, all of the places that I have been. They are truly worth the travel and are not too expensive in price. None of this has been sponsored I just thought I'd recommend some places to you guys!

Also a big thank you to all of the support I have been getting! Hope you enjoyed this blog post!
That's all for now!

Much Love,

Exams...

Hellooooo,
ADashOfBecks here!

So, I know that a lot of people are doing exams at the moment/have exams coming up or have just completed some exams, whether that be in school, college or university. I'm in year 10 at school, and I completed my English Literature paper 1 GCSE on Monday, and I completed my English Literature paper 2 GCSE today, I also have a Maths Statistics GCSE exam on the 16th of June. The one main thing that I have learnt through these exams is the amount of stress that you go through, and I have only started my GCSE examinations this year, so I can only imagine the stress that College and University students go through!
Anyway, today's blog post is going to be about the top 13 ways to deal with exam stress! I'm sorry if this isn't relevant to you, but I know that a lot of people around the world are sitting examinations at the moment, if you are not... then please feel free to skip this post, and come to it when you have examinations in the future!
without any further ado... here are the top 13 ways to deal with exam stress!

1. Be Prepared!

Make sure that you know what you have supposed to have learnt, and that you have practised or revised for you exams. Make sure you know what to include in your exams and what you get the marks for especially if you have to write essays, and they check on your spelling, punctuation and grammar, you can find this out from past mark schemes on the exam board's website.

2. Make a Plan!

You can make a revision schedule so that you know when you have to revise and what you have to revise, this is a key thing in being able to deal with exam stress, because you have an organised system that you can follow, with equal revision slots for each exam/subject. Another way to do this, is to break down tasks or subjects that you find to hard or overwhelming and breaking them down into smaller, more manageable tasks. Perhaps you need to spend more time one one subject, than you do another? Vary the timetable with time spent on different subjects so you don't get too bored of one subject and stop taking notice.

3. Know When and Where you Work Best.

Maybe you work better in a particular place? At a particular time? Work when you are most alert, maybe you prefer to work at night time than during the day? Or in the morning? - Choose which ever time is suitable for you! Everybody has different revision styles, some people prefer to sit in a nice tidy space with a nice neat table, you may prefer to sit under your blankets with your laptop or a book, where ever you feel the calmest is the best place to deal with exam stress.

4. Take a Break!

Humans can only concentrate properly for about 40-45 minutes at one time, if you try any longer you will tend to just forget what you have tried to cram in. You don't need to revise like mad! As long as you know you have tried your best, that's all that matters really, you don't want to be giving yourself a headache revising like mad to cram all information in the day before your exam. Its suggested you take between 10 and 20 minutes between every 45 minutes revising, just to relax, forget about your exams for a short time, and have a bit of "you-time".

5. Eat Well.

Make sure you keep your blood sugar levels steady so that your energy doesn't go down during the day, and you can sleep well at night is a vital way of dealing with exam stress. Try to avoid a lot of processed, sugary foods like biscuits, breakfast cereal, chocolate and sweets. Lean protein like chicken, fish or eggs, plenty of vegetables and carbohydrates that release their energy slowly like wholegrain bread, rice and pasta will keep energy levels steady. Pulses like chickpeas and lentils are great for vegetarians or others since they both contain protein and slow-release carbohydrates.
If you are so nervous before an exam that you can't eat then you don't have to force yourself too, your body will catch up, just make sure you stay hydrated.

6. Drink Well.

Staying hydrated with lots of water, low-calorie sodas, or herbal teas are key to staying awake and alert. Juices and sugary drinks can make you hyper and mess up your level of energy. Drinks that contain a lot of caffeine for example, caffeinated tea or coffee perk you up, but stick to about 4-5 cups a day. And if you feel hyper or have trouble sleeping drink your last cup around late afternoon. Cola, energy and sports drinks contain a lot of sugar and caffeine.

7. Get Exercise!

This, is probably, one of the best ways of dealing with exam stress! Any thing from going on a walk to swimming to playing football, helps to reduce physical tension that can lead to aches and pains, and releases natural endorphins, which are basically feel good brain chemicals. Have friends join in if you can't get motivated.

8. Avoid Stimulants.

Just like caffeine, lots of cigarettes, alcohol or drugs can give you the impression that you are somehow dealing with exam stress. However, they can leave you craving more and, in excess, will either slow or bring you down, or over stimulate you.

9. Sleep Well.

It is understandable to toss and turn the night before and exam and our bodies can cope without sleep for a day or so. Worrying about not being able to sleep, makes you even more stressed, so there are many things you can do so that you can sleep.
Having a nice hot bath, and being in a place just dedicated to sleeping, without a TV on or being on your phone, tablet or computer, will help you switch off. If you still can't go to sleep, do something repetitive such as counting or a jigsaw can help you to sleep, as you will get bored.
If you do not end up sleeping at all as you really, really can't, don't be too worried, as adrenaline will make you get through you exams at the end of the day!

10. Relaxation

If you are feeling really anxious, then go to a quite room and take a deep breath, count to 10 and breath out, and keep repeating until you feel a bit less anxious. Another thing that can really help if you can't get to a calm space, is thinking about your calmest place and pretending you are there, this can ease you.

11. Talk about it with Someone!

Almost everyone feels stressed about exams, even if its only a little bit - so you're not alone. Expressing your worries to a family member, friend or teacher will help release them from your system, therefore making you feel like a weight has been lifted.

12. Reward Yourself.

Get treats involved with your timetable-Then get them when you feel you are sticking to your timetable. Plan something exciting to do at the end of your examinations.

13. Keep it in Perspective!

If you feel you have really messed up in your exam/s, there is nothing you can do until you get the results. Worrying about it will not help - and may reduce your chances of doing well in other exams you are taking as you are worrying about ones in the past. Think about what you could do about a disappointing result -  this will help you feel in control.
Yes, its great to do well in exams. But whether you are suffering GCSE stress, A-Level stress or taking University exams, remember that exams are not the only things that will help you succeed in life. Employers will be equally as interested in other things, such as attitude, work-rate or ability to get on with others.
ITS NOT THE END OF THE WORLD!!

There we go, there are my top 13 tips on how to deal with exam stress! Take all of these points into consideration and just do the best that you can do! As long as you know you tried your best, that's the most that you can do! Good luck in all of your exams guys!!

All of the exam stress aside, I am not going to be uploading next week as I am ill at the moment but I promised 2 blog posts this week, so I chose to do this one, and also I have a week off of school next week and I am going out with my family so I am not going to be home much. Sorry Guys!! I promise 3 posts the week after next, or a mid-week post next week if I do happen to have time! So sorry guys!

Hellooooo!

I've Decided to start a blog. This blog...ADashOfBecks.

So I know what you will be thinking now, why?

Well, I have been thinking about making a blog for a while, and well, I never did. I thought that there would be people who judged me about it in my school and I thought that people would think I was 'strange' or 'stupid' for wanting to write my views/feelings all over the internet.
However, last week, a really good friend of mine (lets call her Dope, as I'm not revealing her real name else this blog wouldn't be anonymous) told me to just go for it, she said that I shouldn't care what other people had to say because at least I am trying to do something with my life and pursue my dream.
So then, a week later after coming up with a name and ideas, this blog was born!

Well anyway, I have came to the conclusion that this blog is going to be about my thoughts, feelings and life, (maybe the occasional beauty post thrown in as well!)

My aims;

I hope by making this blog, that maybe I help people that want to do something but don't know how, or are too shy to try something new, because I have been in that position before and now I feel like its my time to help others overcome their weakness' or fears.
I also hope that, with help of my followers, I can one day, maybe, become a professional blogger.

I am planning on uploading a blog post 2-3 times a week, or maybe more if I have time, however I am revising and sitting exams at school at the moment so I hope you can take that into consideration if you wonder why I haven't posted that much. You can check out my Twitter page for tweets on when I have uploaded a new blog post; @ADashOfBecks

Anyway, That is all I have to say for now, sorry if I rambled on a little haha, I'm just excited for this new chapter of my life, if you enjoyed this little insight into my blog please feel free to follow me for more posts or comment on this post, it will be appreciated, and I will make sure to reply to some comments and follow some of your guy's blogs back!

Much Love,
